What to Expect at Quebec City Comiccon 2024

Hey everyone! I’m super excited to chat with you about the upcoming 2024 Quebec City Comiccon, happening October 12-13, 2024 at the stunning Quebec City Convention Centre. If you haven’t been to this event before, it’s one of the most fantastic conventions in the region, especially if you're a fan of pop culture, gaming, comics, sci-fi, and fantasy!

What to Expect at Quebec City Comiccon 2024

Quebec City Comiccon is the place to let your geek flag fly! Whether you’re a comic book lover, a passionate gamer, or a die-hard movie buff, there’s something here for everyone. From celebrity guests to cosplay competitions, exhibitor booths, and tons of fan panels, the weekend is packed with amazing activities.

One of the best parts about Comiccon is the community—you’ll find people who are just as obsessed as you are about your favorite fandoms! Plus, Quebec City Comiccon always pulls in some amazing celebrity guests, and 2024 is shaping up to be no different.

Celebrities and Special Guests

This year has another stellar lineup. Celebrity guests include Anik Jean, Jérémie Larouche and Sébastien Trudel.  Voice actors include Mela Lee, Jason Liebrecht, Charlet Chung and Elizabeth Maxwell.  Comic book creator highlight appearances from James Raiz and Sacha Lefebvre will also top off the list of special guests to look forward to meet!

Epic Cosplay Competitions & Special Events

Cosplayers, it’s your time to shine! Whether you're into building screen-accurate armor or crafting whimsical, imaginative creations, the cosplay competition at Quebec City Comiccon is a must. With categories ranging from novice to master, you can strut your stuff on the main stage and show off your hard work. There’s always a great mix of characters, from anime, movies, comics, and video games—so whether you’re coming to participate or just to admire, it’s bound to be a spectacle.

Special events to check out include participating in the costume Masquerade and enjoying the 18+ Burlesgeek event on Saturday night!

Don't miss the Orchestre Select Start (OSS) on Saturday and Sunday.  They are a a 50 person wind ensemble and NPO located in Quebec City focusing on playing arrangements of video game music!

Panels, Workshops, and More!

Love learning about the behind-the-scenes of your favorite shows, movies, and comics? You’ll find plenty of panels and Q&A sessions at Comiccon. These panels dive deep into everything from how to break into the comics industry to the making of your favorite blockbuster films. It’s a great opportunity to hear directly from creators, actors, and writers. Not to mention, there are usually some hilarious behind-the-scenes stories and fan moments shared that you won’t hear anywhere else!

For the artists and aspiring creators among us, the workshops offer a unique opportunity to learn skills like 3D printing, prop-making, and comic book illustration. So whether you’re a cosplayer or just curious about how those mind-blowing props are made, there’s a workshop for you.

Artists’ Alley and Exhibitors

A personal favorite of mine is Artists’ Alley, where you’ll find a treasure trove of independent artists showcasing their art, comics, and fandom-inspired goodies.  Support local and indie creators and bring home some nerdy swag! Plus, the exhibitor floor is jam-packed with vendors selling everything from collectible action figures to rare comic books. It’s the perfect place to pick up some rad new geek apparel too.  You can find me vending my geek-centric jewellery at kiosk #207!

Gaming Zones and Tournaments

If gaming is more your speed, the gaming zones are not to be missed. Comiccon always features dedicated spaces for tabletop games, card games, and video games, often with tournaments running throughout the weekend. Whether you're a seasoned D&D dungeon master or just dipping your toes into Magic: The Gathering, there are plenty of opportunities to roll some dice or pick up a controller!

Getting Ready for the Show

Pro tip: Make sure to plan ahead! Get your tickets early to avoid the rush, and if you want to meet one of the celebrity guests. Also, bring comfortable shoes! You’ll be doing a lot of walking, especially if you plan on spending time browsing all the booths.

With all of this and more, Quebec City Comiccon 2024 is going to be a blast. Whether you're going for the celeb panels, to compete in the cosplay contest, or just to soak in the atmosphere, it’s the perfect weekend for anyone who lives and breathes pop culture. So mark your calendars for October 12-13 and get ready to geek out with me!
