Otakuthon 2025: What to Expect from Montréal’s Ultimate Anime Fest

If you’ve ever wondered why Otakuthon is that anime convention to hit in Canada, here’s your sneak peek—because I’m vending there too (Booth 610!). Otakuthon runs August 8–10, 2025 at the Palais des congrès de Montréal, and it’s officially the largest anime event in Canada—fully bilingual and run by fans since 2006.

From Anime Marathon to Monster of a Convention

Otakuthon began as a one-day anime marathon at Concordia University in 2006, then grew rapidly and moved to the Palais in 2008.

It now welcomes over 36,000 attendees each year. Official theme for 2025 is “Coming of Age”, fitting for its landmark 20th anniversary.
