Winter Edition Magic: Inside My Ottawa Comiccon Jewellery Booth
❄️ Ottawa Comiccon Winter Edition: Booth #409, Shiny Things & Good Chaos
If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like behind the table at a Comiccon, let me paint you a picture—sparkly jewellery trays, excited fandom chatter and that familiar hum of “ohhh, can I try this on?”
This weekend, Le Dragon Argenté has landed at Ottawa Comiccon – Winter Edition, holding down booth #409, and honestly? It’s going exactly how conventions usually go—in the best, slightly chaotic way possible.

Winter Edition has a different rhythm than the big spring show. It’s more intimate, more vendor-focused, and full of people who actually want to browse, chat, and discover handmade treasures. Less sprinting, more wandering. Less overwhelm, more genuine connection.
✨🛠️ From Empty Tables to Full-On Vending Magic
Setup always starts the same way: completely bare vendor tables staring back at me like “okay, impress us.” Everything arrives in bins and cases, and for a moment it feels like chaos waiting to happen.

Then the ritual kicks in. Displays come out first, because they set the tone. Jewellery gets laid out carefully — nothing tangled, nothing rushed — every piece placed so it can actually be seen and appreciated. Signs go up, lights get positioned just right, and suddenly the table stops looking like a table and starts feeling like a tiny jewellery gallery.

There’s a rhythm to it after all these years. Step back. Adjust. Move things an inch to the left. Step back again. The lighting changes everything — once it’s on, the silver starts to glow, gemstones catch the light, and the whole booth comes alive.

By the time I’m done, the space has transformed into exactly what I want it to be: welcoming, a little magical, and full of shiny things waiting for their next adventure. That moment right before the doors open, when everything is set and the energy shifts from prep to action? Absolute vending bliss.
⚔️ Jewellery Fans, Fandom Finds & “I’ve Been Looking for This”
From the moment doors open, the booth energy kicks in. People spot something shiny from a distance, drift closer, and suddenly we’re talking fandoms, favourite characters, and which piece “feels like them.”
That’s one of my favourite things about cons—jewellery fans are storytellers. Every ring, pendant, or pair of earrings becomes a conversation:
“This reminds me of my first convention.”
“I’ve loved this fandom forever.”
“I’ve been looking for something like this for years.”
Winter Edition crowds tend to be wonderfully geeky and intentional. Folks come ready to support artists, find unique pieces, and actually talk to the makers. It’s slower-paced, but the connections are deeper—and I love that.
🧙♀️ Cosplay Sightings & Winter Con Vibes
Even though Winter Edition isn’t as cosplay-heavy as the main show, the creativity still shows up. You’ll see casual cosplay, fandom hoodies paired with epic accessories, and the occasional full-on “yes, they committed” outfit strolling by.
There’s something special about winter cons—people linger longer, chat more, and take their time. It feels less like a rush and more like a shared geeky hangout.
🐉 Booth #409: Controlled Chaos, Courtesy of My Dream Team
Let me say this loud and clear: I do not do Comiccons alone.
At the heart of booth #409 is my absolute ride-or-die support system.
Louise is my constant. Always there, always steady, always impeccable with customers. She knows the flow, reads the room, and somehow keeps everything running smoothly even when the booth is three people deep and someone is trying on rings with gloves half-off. Truly unmatched.
Then there’s Cindy and Sylvia, who are absolute pros when things get busy. Big crowds? High volume? No problem. Cool, calm, smiling, and handling everything with grace while keeping the energy friendly and welcoming. Watching them work is honestly a masterclass in convention teamwork.
If you’ve ever had a great experience at my booth—it’s because of them.
💎 Why Winter Edition Is Always Worth It
Ottawa Comiccon Winter Edition isn’t just a “smaller con.” It’s a community-focused show. Vendors get time to talk. Shoppers get space to browse. Artists get to actually explain their work, their process, and their fandom love.
For me, that’s the magic. It’s not just about selling jewellery—it’s about sharing stories, meeting fellow geeks, and watching someone light up when they find their piece.
✨ Final Thoughts from Behind the Table
So far, Winter Edition feels exactly like it always does: familiar, energizing, a little exhausting, and completely worth it. My voice will probably be hoarse by the end, my feet will definitely be tired—but my heart will be full.
If you’re coming by, booth #409 is where the dragons live. Come say hi, try things on, geek out with us, and be part of the con story. 💛🐉

See you on the con floor!
