Brome Fair is the biggest country fair in Quebec, happening August 29 to September 1, 2025 in Knowlton (part of Lac-Brome). The gates open at 10:30 am, rides and shows run until late, and Monday wraps earlier at 6 pm. It’s Labour Day weekend’s ultimate side quest—you’ll want comfy shoes, a backpack, and plenty of room for snacks.
Midway Madness
If you’re into thrill rides, this is your playground. Ferris wheel, bumper cars, roller coasters—the whole midway is basically a festival boss battle of flashing lights and game stalls. Go early if you don’t want to wait in line forever, and definitely save some cash for games. Pro tip: the ring toss is harder than it looks, so maybe don’t bet all your coins on that one.

Meet the Real-Life NPCs (a.k.a. Animals)
You can’t go to Brome Fair without checking out the barns. Horses, cows, goats, sheep, chickens—it’s like walking into Stardew Valley IRL. The livestock competitions are serious business, and the showmanship events are actually way more intense than you’d think. Grab a spot near the horse arena if you want some jaw-dropping action.

Arts, Crafts, and Farming Flexes
Step into the exhibition halls and you’ll find prize-winning pumpkins, gorgeous quilts, and the kind of crafts you wish you could make after watching three YouTube tutorials. It’s also where you’ll see locals flex their green thumbs and baking skills—think of it like an achievement board for the community.
Live Music and Night Vibes
Every evening the fairgrounds turn into a mini concert zone. Expect country, folk, and local artists rocking out on stage. Friday night also has a “5 à 7”—a casual happy hour with wine, beer, and snacks that feels like a social mixer straight out of Animal Crossing, but with Quebecois vibes.

Shows and Demos
Don’t skip the daytime demos. There’s everything from balloon artists to flower arranging to family-friendly workshops. Some of the demos even let you get hands-on, which is perfect if you’re a “let me try that” kind of player.
Food = Loot Drops
Okay, this is one of the best parts. Funnel cake, poutine, candy apples, lemonade—it’s a smorgasbord of fair food that will ruin your diet but totally be worth it. On top of that, local cideries and wineries usually pop up with tasting stations. Think of it as the gourmet side quest you didn’t know you needed.

Demolition Derby = Final Boss Battle
If you want pure chaos, the demolition derby is your main event. Picture old cars smashing into each other until one is left standing—it’s basically Mario Kart with real engines and a lot more smoke.

First-Timer Pro Tips
- Arrive early if you want to catch the animals and avoid long ride lines.
- Make a “quest list” of what you don’t want to miss—there’s way too much to wander aimlessly.
- Bring cash; not every booth takes cards.
- Hydrate! It’s a long day in the sun and you’ll be walking a ton.
- Book your lodging early if you’re staying overnight—the Eastern Townships get busy on Labour Day.
Explore the Vendors (and Come Find Me!)
One of the best parts of Brome Fair is wandering through the vendor section. You’ll find everything from local crafts and handmade treats to quirky art and unique finds you won’t see anywhere else. It’s like an artist alley at a con, but with a country-fair twist. And guess what? I’ll be there too, vending live with my Le Dragon Argenté jewellery at kiosk #355-#356, under the grandstands.
If you’re into geeky, fantasy-inspired pieces or just want something shiny and unique to remember your weekend by, swing by my booth and say hi. I love meeting fellow fairgoers, chatting about fandoms, and helping you find the perfect piece to add to your treasure hoard.

Why It’s Worth the Trip
Brome Fair has been running since 1856, and it’s still one of the biggest traditions in Quebec. But it’s not just old-fashioned—it’s an experience that mixes carnival thrills, rural culture, great food, and live entertainment into one unforgettable weekend. If you’ve never been, this is the year to roll the dice and give it a go!
