The feather of my Ma-At pendant started off as a class project. The class, production in series, was a project with a goal to create a design that would be reproduced three times. This class was to teach student jewellers how to create a piece that would be reproduced via a rubber mold, and to cast three exact copies of the original piece we had designed.
I designed this pendant based on the Egyptian goddess Maat, the goddess of Truth, whose symbol is the peacock feather symbolizing truth and clarity.
On the front of the feather design, I created it to have a 8 x 10 mm cabochon stone set in a bezel setting with her Cartouche on the back on a raised rectangle.
The three pendants I made, based off the master design I had carved in wax, I set with green cubic zirconia.
The pendant I offer for sale is a second version of the pendant that I had originally designed back in 1997.
The second design I made without the rectangle on the back and had the Cartouche for the goddess Ma'at take up a much larger space. This made it much easier to see the Cartouche.
These are the versions of my current offerings for this Ma'at inspired pendant, in sterling silver and antique bronze. I offer them in a wide variety of gemstones so that there's something for everyone with a little personalization! The pendants shown below are set with lapis lazuli.
