Howl's Calcifer Fire Band in Antique Bronze, Gemstone Flower Band in Antique Bronze
This is a handmade ring in antique bronze based on Howl's Calcifer fire band, but version 2. The band is 6mm wide and is 1.5mm thick and with a 4-4.5mm stone, depending on the cut and availability, set into a bezel framed by a twisted braid and sits 4.5mm high. The flower patterns on the side are raised on the band and spaced similar to in the the movie, though depending on the size required it can affect the pattern a bit. Some stones are not available in cabochon cut, so a faceted stone will be set instead. If you have a preference for a stone cut, or there is one you want that's not on the list, please message me and I'll see what I can do!
The original was custom requested by a cosplayer I met at Anime Next who wanted it for his Howl's cosplay.
Howl's Ring is a magical object that appears in the movie adaptation of Howl's Moving Castle. It holds a connection to Howl's heart within Calcifer. Calling out to Calcifer causes the small stone on it to emit a beam of light pointing in his direction.
Bronze is an alloy that consists of a mixture of approximately 90% copper and 10% tin. Producing bronze is a less toxic process than producing brass as brass is a combination of copper and zinc, and the manufacturing process often produces zinc oxide which is toxic.
Because bronze contains copper, it can turn your skin green whether you have an allergy or not. Bronze and copper turn your skin green because when the copper reacts with your sweat and the acids from your skin, it produces copper chloride. Copper chloride is a green substance that then rubs off on your skin. If you are prone to sweating, your bronze jewelry will definitely turn your skin green. This chemical reaction can also be prevented by painting any part of the jewelry that comes in contact with your skin with clear nail polish or clear acrylic enamel.
