Final Fantasy 7 Fenrir Wolf Ring in Sterling Silver or Antique Bronze
This handmade wolf ring is based on the Cloud Strife Fenrir wolf from Final Fantasy 7; Advent Children movie. The ring is available in either .925 sterling silver or antique bronze and is sized to order. The top is 2.5cm long, 1.8cm wide and sits 1.2cm high off the hand and the top is hollowed out for ease of wear. The shank tapers down to 5mm wide. The ring in the mouth is soldered closed, but I can make it without it upon request.
I was attending an anime convention here in Montreal and saw a cool design for a ring based on the anime. I'm an RPG fan, and have always loved the awesome jewellery. The problem; it was a cheap chinese knockoff in pewter, and I'm very allergic! The solution; make my own in silver but better! And here we are!
Fenrir is the wolf motif that became prevalent in the Final Fantasy VII series. Fenrir, a brownish-gray timber wolf that appears several times in the movie Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, is seen as a symbol of Cloud's loneliness and his guilt for the deaths of two of his friends: Aerith Gainsborough and Zack Fair, as well as for his other failures. The wolf may signify Cloud being a "lone wolf" who tries to deal with problems his own way, either by confronting them or escaping from them, without the help of others.
Sterling silver is an alloy of silver containing 92.5% by weight of silver and 7.5% by weight of copper. The sterling silver standard has a minimum millesimal fineness of 925.
Bronze is an alloy that consists of a mixture of approximately 90% copper and 10% tin. Producing bronze is a less toxic process than producing brass as brass is a combination of copper and zinc, and the manufacturing process often produces zinc oxide which is toxic.
Because bronze contains copper, it can turn your skin green whether you have an allergy or not. Bronze and copper turn your skin green because when the copper reacts with your sweat and the acids from your skin, it produces copper chloride. Copper chloride is a green substance that then rubs off on your skin. If you are prone to sweating, your bronze jewelry will definitely turn your skin green. This chemical reaction can also be prevented by painting any part of the jewelry that comes in contact with your skin with clear nail polish or clear acrylic enamel.
As others have said, this piece was crafted super well. It looks and feels high quality. My favorite ring I've ever owned! I'm coming back if I want another similar ring for sure.
I don't think there's a better place to buy silver jewellery than Le Dragon Argenté. The craftsmanship is impeccable, and each piece has a nice sturdy weight to it. I've had a pair of earrings for almost two years and although the rods tarnished a little overtime, the earrings themselves still look brilliant.
As for this ring, it's pretty near perfect. It's a great size and weight, and a stunning colour. I was hoping the band would be a little bigger, but it's fine; It's enough to support the head. Overall it's an awesome ring, and if you're a fan of the design, you will be more than happy with it. The Silver Dragon replicated the Fenrir design beautifully!
